what is  yoga ?

Yoga has been around for thousands of years and has evolved during this  time. It could not be summed up in a couple of neat paragraphs, however in  simplistic terms the word yoga comes from Sanskrit, an ancient Indian  language. It is a derivative of the word yuj, which means yoking, as in a team  of oxen. In contemporary practice, this is often interpreted as meaning union.  Yoga is said to be for the purpose of uniting the mind, body and spirit.

It is an ancient art based on a harmonizing system of development for the  body, mind and spirit.  The continued practice of yoga will lead you to a sense  of peace and well-being and also a feeling of being at one with your  environment.

The practice of yoga makes the body strong and flexible, it also improves the  functioning of the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, and hormonal systems.  Yoga brings about emotional stability and clarity of mind.  As your mind and  body are finely tuned you will find that your chances of injuries and illnesses  will lower as you are in a much more attuned state.

In the practice of Yoga the ultimate aim is one of self-development and self-  realization.
